Technical Boat Dive – The Batman | Saturday 21st November 2026

Discover a piece of Victoria’s maritime history beneath the waves as we head into the Ships Graveyard for a technical dive on The Batman! Built in Scotland in 1883, this steam-driven hopper barge also served as a naval auxiliary gunboat and minesweeper before being scuttled in 1935. Today, her surviving bow, stern and towering boiler offer a fascinating glimpse into her remarkable past.

We’re joining the Southern Ocean Explorers club for a special photogrammetry project, capturing footage to help create a detailed 3D model of The Batman. It’s an opportunity to explore this historic wreck while helping document her remains for others to discover.

Divers are welcome to participate in the project or simply enjoy exploring the wreck. Want to contribute? Bring along your GoPro!

This is a technical-rated dive, requiring Tech 45 certification or equivalent, with appropriate experience.
